 Grants – money that does not have to be paid back, usually based on need.

 

Federal Pell Grant
Grant awards range from $400 - $4731 for the school year. The actual amount of each grant depends on the student’s eligibility which is determined by the results of the student's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the number of credit hours they are enrolled each semester. The Pell grant is offered Fall and Winter semester. It is awarded based on full time status and will automatically adjust based on actual credit hours of enrollment.

Full time enrollment is 12 credit hours or more.
Three-quarter time enrollment is between 9-11 credit hours.
Half-time enrollment is between 6-8 credit hours.
Less than half-time enrollment is 1-5 credit hours.

The Pell Grant is available for the Summer semester upon request. Please note, if you are awarded Pell during the Summer, the amount that is awarded in the Winter semester will be reduced.

Pell grant awarded for the Spring semester is based on the student’s unused annual eligibility amount.

Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
Grant awards range from $100 - $2000. SEOG is awarded on a first come, first served basis to Pell eligible students with exceptional financial need that have not been met through other financial aid resources. Students must be enrolled at least six (6) credit hours in order to receive this grant.

Michigan Adult Part Time Grant (MATPG)
Grant awards range from $50 - $600. Independent students must have been a Michigan resident for at least 12 months and have been out of high school at least 24 months. Students must be enrolled between 3-11 credit hours in order to receive this grant. Funding for this program is determined by the State of Michigan on an annual bases. Due to the State's current budgetary position, no MAPT money will be available for awarding during the 2009-2010 year.

Michigan Educational Opportunity Grant (MEOG)
Grant awards range from $50 - $1000. Students and possibly their parent must have been a Michigan resident for the preceding 12 months. Students must be enrolled at least six (6) credit hours in order to receive this grant. Funding for this program is determined by the State of Michigan on an annual bases. Due to the State's current budgetary position, no MEOG money will be available for awarding during the 2009-2010 year.
