Barry Hershon, after six seasons as Assistant Coach, entered the 2002 season as the Bear’s Head Coach. He has compiled an overall record of 221 wins against 172 losses and 2 ties. Winning (1) regional championship, (3) conference championships, (4) 2nd place finishes and (2) third place finishes in his 9 seasons.

He is a 1960 graduate of Flint Kearsley High School. While there, he earned 10 Varsity Letters in football, basketball and baseball. He also earned 1st Team All Conference honors and All-State honors in all three sports. In his senior season as the Hornet’s Quarterback, during their championship season, he was honored as a High School All-American.

Barry further played 15 seasons in the Flint AA Baseball League for perennial champion Bishop's Construction, earning numerous All-Star team as Bishop's 3rd baseman. Retired from active play in 1975 after Bishops went on to win the first ever Stan Musical National Championship for a Flint Michigan team.

Barry has since came out of retirement to play Senior Fast Pitch Baseball in the Roy Hobbs National Tournament held in Phoenix, AZ and Fort Myers, FL. His team the Detroit 50s and then 60s won (3) straight national championships.

Barry’s coaching experience prior to Mott Community College was eight years as assistant basketball coach at Kearsley High School and two years as assistant basketball coach at Atherton High School. Barry is a retired supervisor from Flint Delphi West of 36 years. He has three children and resides in Grand Blanc with his wife Earline.
