Your Tutors

Although tutoring is not considered an accommodation, this free service is offered to all MCC students. Professional tutors are available on a limited basis in the Learning Center to students who qualify. Peer tutors are also available for many courses. Here are a few helpful tips:

  • Do not wait until you are in trouble to get a tutor. If you think you will need help in a class, be sure to ask your DisAbility Services Specialist for a tutor.
  • Tutors are to help you understand the lessons better. They will not read for you. You must read your work before you see your tutor.
  • The tutor will not do the work for you. You must do the homework before you see your tutor.
  • When you read and do your homework, be sure to write down any questions that you may have, or circle items that you do not understand.
  • Come prepared with books, notes, paper, and pencil.
  • The tutors are skilled and know how to help you. Listen to their suggestions about how to study and how to do the work.
  • If you do not have special homework to do that day, you can work on material that will help you improve your work.
  • Tutoring is an important part of this program. Do not miss your tutoring time. You will benefit from it!
