HONORS PROGRAM  
    • Graduates receive special Honors Medallion and Honors Program Diploma in addition to Associates Degree.
    • The Honors Program partial tuition scholarship is available on a first-come, first-served basis to Honors Program students enrolled in honors sections..
    • Exclusive Honors Colloquium, three (3) credit course.
    • Choice of specially designated sections of regular courses.
    • Enriched learning experiences with other high-achieving students.
    • Exclusive Honors Retreats fall and winter semesters.
    • Opportunities for travel & conferences.
    • Honors classes noted on transcript.
    • Personal honors advisor in addition to advisor in academic area.

    Student Scholars Conference
    Land Trio  

    Students attend 22nd Student Scholars Conference

    Students Saed Issac, Jan Costea, and Alok Kumar
    along with faculty members, Hearther Sisto and Paul Rozycki, attended the 22nd Student Scholars Conference, at Henry Ford Community College. The conference was part of LAND (Liberal Arts Network for Development) for 2-year colleges.

    The students presented research papers in 5 categories!

PHI THETA KAPPA    
  • PTK is an international honors society for two-year colleges.
  • MCC has the Alpha Omicron Iota Chapter of PTK.
  • Exclusive PTK scholarships to many transfer institutions.
  • Extra-curricular activities.
  • Opportunities to attend district, regional, and national conventions.

Graduation with Honors Designations    
Students graduating with a cumulative 3.0 – 4.0 GPA will receive one of the following notations
on their Associates Degree transcript:
  • 3.0 graduation with honors

  • 3.5 graduation with high honors

  • 4.0 graduation with highest honors

  • H notation next to any honors courses completed

Please note: It is not necessary to be enrolled in the Honors Program to receive these designations

Regalia at Commencement

Students wear the following regalia at the Commencement ceremonies when they receive their Associates Degrees. Graduates in full regalia
  • White cords: 3.0 "Graduation with honors"
  • Silver cords: 3.5 "Graduation with high honors"
  • Gold cords: 4.0 "Graduation with highest honors"
  • Honors Program Medallion: 3.5 or higher GPA and completion of requirements for Honors Program Diploma.
  • PTK stole worn by members in good standing of Phi Theta Kappa
  • PTK medallion worn by PTK officers
Dean’s List    
A letter of recognition is sent to any student with a 3.5 GPA in a given semester.

Please note: This does not mean, however, that the student is eligible for the Honors Program, which requires completion of 12 credits and a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better.
