Employment Opportunities - Selection Process

Thank you for your interest in employment with Mott Community College (MCC). Applications are only accepted for posted positions and must be submitted through MCC's online application process.

The official job posting site can be accessed through this website. The official posting will contain a position summary, minimum and preferred qualifications and application procedures. MCC's positions are often advertised using various print and electronic sources.

In order to be considered for a position at MCC, an applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements of that position. During the application process, an applicant will be asked if s/he meets the minimum requirements for the position. If the person's responses indicate s/he does not meet even one of the minimum requirements, the application will not receive consideration and a pop-up box will indicate this information after submission. PLEASE NOTE: Regardless if the requirements are met or not, an applicant will be allowed to complete the entire application process. Since a significant amount of time is involved in completing the application, it is strongly recommended that applicants apply only if their qualifications match the minimum requirements of the position.

Part of the application process requires specific electronic documents to be uploaded. Typically, these materials include a cover letter, resume, and, for full-time faculty positions, a statement of teaching philosophy. At times, other documents or electronic files are required. Since the required documents will be listed in the job posting, it is important to read the posting completely to determine if all necessary materials are available for uploading.

All hiring decisions are based on qualifications and suitability for the position. When an application is received, it is carefully screened against the position's minimum and preferred requirements. Only those who appear to best meet the requirements will receive further consideration, which may include testing, phone screening and/or an onsite interview.

If you have applied for a part-time faculty opportunity, your application materials will be forwarded to the appropriate Dean. Specific part-time teaching needs for future semesters may not be known until the end of class registration. If a need materializes and it is determined your credentials meet the position requirements, you will receive further consideration and may be contacted for an interview.

If you have applied for a regular (non-temporary) staff or full-time faculty position, your qualifications will be evaluated further. Depending on the outcome of this screening, additional information and/or materials may be requested from you. Only those who appear to best meet the position requirements will be asked to provide the supplemental documents. If you are no longer being considered for the position, this information will be communicated to you via email.

MCC's application process allows applicants to create a profile which can be used to apply to multiple jobs. Although the profile eliminates the need to complete the application form "from scratch" each time, an applicant is required to apply to each position interested in. When applying to an opening, the applicant needs to review and/or update the application and also submit the appropriate documents required in the specific job posting.

Previously submitted materials cannot be returned, copied, or retrieved. Also, due to the volume of applications we receive and limited resources, we are unable to respond to inquiries pertaining to an applicant's documentation or status.
